Residential Scorecard Assessments

What is the Residential Scorecard?

The Residential Efficiency Scorecard (Scorecard) is a nation-wide tool that has been designed to help households better understand the energy performance of their homes.

A Scorecard assessment provides a way of assessing where the majority of energy is used in your home and considers fixed appliances such as heating, cooling and hot water appliances, as well as the construction and design of your home.

Seb Crangle is one of only several accredited Scorecard Assessors in NSW. He also sits on the Scorecard Quality Advisory Panel, and delivers practical training days to trainee Scorecard assessors.

Private organisations deliver Scorecard assessments and do not represent the Victorian Government or other State and Territory governments. For more information visit vic.gov.au/energyscorecard.

What does a Scorecard assessment include?

A Scorecard home assessment enables you to make informed choices about improving the quality of your living environment, while saving money on your energy bills, and lowering your carbon footprint.

An assessment includes:

  • an in-person inspection of your home’s building fabric and fixed appliances, with detailed computer modelling
  • consultation on your goals concerning energy in your home
  • tailored advice and recommendations to improve your home’s energy efficiency
  • a nationally recognised Scorecard Certificate, including star rating for your home packages and web page editors.

The Scorecard Certificate

Scorecard certificate example
From a Scorecard Assessment the household receives a certificate with an overall energy star rating, a hot and cold comfort rating, and key recommendations and priorities.

The certificate also includes a breakdown of the relative energy consumption and efficiency of the home’s fixed appliances,
as well as details of annual energy consumption and carbon emissions, generated from Scorecard tool’s detailed modelling.
